A few quick tips: Practice in front of a mirror to feel more at ease. Bring photo inspiration and ideas to the shoot. Get a full night's sleep and consider an extra hour. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Then: Let us take care of the rest!

WHAT TO WEAR

  • Solid colors, especially dark or primary colors (‘jewel’ tones).

  • Avoid white clothing unless worn under a jacket, coat or blazer or worn in combination with other layers.

  • Simple (or non-existent) patterns or textures. The focus should be on your face and eyes, not your clothes.

  • Clothes you love and that make you feel good.

  • New or new-looking clothing that is pressed, ironed, or wrinkle-free. We can retouch clothing to mitigate some (minor) issues.

  • Simple jewelry that enhances your outfit but doesn’t overpower it.

WHAT TO BRING

  • More than one outfit, if you aren’t sure. Different necklines dramatically change the way your face looks in a photo, so a variety is good.

  • Extra makeup, a brush, and toiletries such as lip gloss.

  • An electric razor if you want to make sure you have a clean-shaven look.

  • Old headshots that you like or don’t like (we’ll work hard to do better)

  • Extra accessories (ties, jewelry, etc.). We’ll help you choose the items that complement your outfit.

  • A list of your favorite musical artists (or email it to us beforehand). Music can make you feel more relaxed and the session more fun.

HAIR & MAKEUP TIPS

  • A light layer of translucent face powder will help your face look flawless on camera.

  • Clean and natural is best.

  • Men may require a powder base makeup as well to prevent shine. If you don’t have your own, we’re glad to provide.

  • No new haircuts just prior to the shoot (give it a couple of days).

  • Don’t try out new makeup or skin lotions just before the shoot.

  • Skin blemishes and sleepiness nights aren’t fun, but don’t worry—our professional retouchers will work their magic.

FAQs

  • We understand when unforeseen circumstances arise. Cancel or Reschedule anytime using the link in your confirmation email (you can call or email us as well). No deposit will be returned if cancelled less than 24 hours before your session.

  • Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled session. If you’ll be more than 10 minutes late, please just call or email to let us know.

  • A non-refundable $50 booking fee is required to schedule a session in our studio. The balance is due at the time of session. Payment can be in cash, checks, money order or credit card.

  • In most cases, yes. When you book you’ll be asked to provide a link that show us what you have in mind. We’ll reverse-engineer the look and will make sure your headshot matches.

  • If you book five or more individuals on the same day, you may be eligible for volume discounts of up 50%. Contact us to find out more. We are limited in how many sessions we can accommodate in a single day, so please arrange this first with us.

  • No problem! Add up to five people to your session for $50 per additional person (first two packages only). If more than five individuals, please contact us to request a quote. Groups larger than five may require the use of a larger space.

  • Rather than using a formal backdrop, we can use the studio spaces as your backdrop. These environmental portraits are perfect for a warmer, contemporary feel.

  • If you would rather have portraits taken at your office or offsite location, we can do that. Please contact us by email or phone to discuss your needs.
